1.1. Example: A Dice-Rolling Problem. In board games like Monopoly, Clue, Parcheesi, and so on, players take turns rolling a pair of dice and then moving tokens on a board according to rules that depend on the dice rolls. The rules of these games are all somewhat complicated, but in most of the games, in most circumstances, the number of spaces a player moves his/her token is the sum of the numbers showing on the dice.

Play is often episodic and mission-centric, with a series of challenges culminating in a final puzzle or enemy that must be overcome. Multiple missions played with the same characters may be related to each other in a plot arc of escalating challenges. The exact tone, structure, pace and end (if any) vary from game to game depending on the needs and preferences of the players, as in [9]. "THE C...

Board games are very simple games and easy to learn. It has simple rules to move dice or discs. Though they are simple to learn, differences in experiences, skills and strategies make master-level players and naive players. To teach these properties to machine is a daunting task. Researchers attempt to develop evolutionary game player who like humans needs time to start the board game and will ...

متن کاملCharacterising Score Distributions in Dice Games
We analyse a variety of ways that comparing dice values can be used to simulate battles in games, measuring the ‘win bias’, ‘tie percentage’, and ‘closeness’ of each variant, to provide game designers with quantitative measurements of how small rule changes can significantly affect game balance. Closeness, a metric we introduce, is related to the inverse of the second moment, and measures how c...

Frequent criticism in dynamic decision making research pertains to the overly complex nature of the decision tasks used in experimentation. To address such concerns we study dynamic decision making with respect to the simple race game Hog, which has a computable optimal decision strategy. In the two-player game of Hog, individuals compete to be the first to reach a designated threshold of point...
